Week 24

Accomplishments
I presented at the SIAM conference and was a participant in the BE (Broader Engagement) Program through SHI. I learned so much and made invaluable connections. I also was able to present in front of bigger audiences than I'd ever had the chance to so I was able to improve skills that can help me convey this research in the future.
Weekly Goal
It's spring break so we plan to FaceTime at our normal time and discuss any changes we want to make to the poster before our next conference and start to improve the code. We are hoping to fix the labeling problem when using fasttext soon.

Week 23

Accomplishments
Successfully presented both a 1 minute pitch speech and an hour long poster talk. We learned a lot about what we need to explain better, such as our evaluation metric and how word2vec works. We thought as it is an industry standard that more people would know what it was.
Weekly Goal
I am at SIAM this week with Alina presenting other research. I plan to focus on that presentation on Joint Sequence analysis and just take in all of the opportunities at this major conference.

Week 22

Accomplishments
The poster is done and the coding brought to a stopping point. We are preparing to present at the conference and have practiced the delivery. Some of the points we prepared to give are a through explanation of convolutional neural networks and how they can be used to solve our specific problem and an explanation of how we evaluated the success of our program
Weekly Goal
Enjoy the conference and present our project well.

Week 21

Accomplishments
We finished the paper we will submit to Tapia and Grace Hopper and have a very good start on the poster. The poster should be ready to print by the end of the week and we should get it in plenty of time for OCWiC. Throughout all of this we are still trying to get fasttext to run.
Weekly Goal
Finish the poster and to figure out the labeling system for fasttext. Our data needs reformatted to be run on this state of the art labeling system.
